Stacy, To answer your questions in order: 1. No you will not lose your contacts. No information of any kind is stored on the battery. 2. iCloud backs up by default a lot of stuff, including pictures and emails and such. If you have it set to just contacts and apps, it is possible a few of your apps are storing a lot of data (podcasts? radio downloads? etc). a. You can backup to your computer using itunes. OR b. You can upgrade icloud, their prices for a lot more data are actually insanely cheap, so I recommend using their full backup service for piece of mind.
