Hi, Lynne,

If she expects to sell in bookstores, ever, she needs to have either
IngramSpark (which owns LightningSource) or CreateSpace--but neither of
these require exclusivity. She also needs an ISBN and a bunch of other
stuff. If bookstores are not part of the plan, or fi she chooses to use
more than one printer, companies like Thomson-Shore are great to work with
and do high-quality work. If she wants to go local, Collective Copies can
help.

This is an area where I consult. I would say (from experience) that a lot
of heartache can be avoided by running things by an experienced publishing
consultant, whether me or someone else.
