If you plug into Google a phrase like "current time in Beijing" you'll get back something like "9:06AM Wednesday, December 7, 2016." I find this very useful for planning meetings with people on the other side of the world. >From that result it's easy for me to see that to get the time in Beijing I add 13 hours to EST. Unless you like getting going pretty early or they're OK staying up late you're probably going to end up with a meeting at something like 8pm here and 9am there. Its also known as UTC (which stands for Coordinated Universal Time in English and Temps Universel Coordonné in French yeah ). In a lot of ways, its the middle of the worlds timezones. We are currently EST (Eastern Standard Time), which is GMT-5 (which you can pronounce as GMT minus five). During the warmer months, we are EDT (Eastern Daylight Time), which is GMT-4. GMT+8 is 13 hours ahead of us (were 5 hours behind GMT, and theyre 8 hours ahead of it, so 13). So theyll be in tomorrow after 11am EST (24:00 - 13:00 = 11:00), or 4pm GMT (24:00 - 8:00 = 16:00). You can see a map of the worlds timezones at http://www.timeanddate.com/time/map/. Things might make a little more sense after you stare at that for a while. But if you stare at it too long, it might start making less sense again! Hope this helps!
