Hey Marcia, Yes. China is currently 14 hours ahead of us. We are in GMT-6 at the moment, also known as EST (Eastern Standard Time). During daylight savings we're GMT-5, also known as EDT (Eastern Daylight Time). Here's a tip on how to think about it. As you know, the sun sets in the west. So, it appears to move around us in a westerly direction. That means anyone to the west of us, say California, is behind us in terms of the when the sun sets there. California is three time zones away, so as I write this at 6:30 PM EST, it is currently 3:30 PM EST over there. England, which is where GMT is (Greenwich Mean Time), is east of us across the Atlantic Ocean. They are currently six hours ahead of us (or rather, we are six hours behind them, thus GMT-6), so it's 12:30 AM over there. Just past midnight, tomorrow. China is 8 hours ahead England, or GMT+8. That means it's 8:30 AM over there. Rush hour, tomorrow. To make matters more confusing, some countries are on the half-hour from us, like India, which is GMT +5:30. That means it's 5:00 AM over there, tomorrow. Sometimes I have a hard time figuring this stuff out too. That's where technology comes in. If you have an iPhone you can use the World Clock tab to set up a new clock for China. There's also this: https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/ Hope that helps.
