[Hidden-tech] Bookkeeping

My brother Lowell set up my firm with online accounts receivable software, and it’s great. We tried Freshbooks but found that the very new Zoho Books offers much more for the price. I use only the AR part of Zoho Books, but the package is designed for all bookkeeping. Zoho Books offers ease of making invoices, automatic recurring invoices, automatic reminder emails, quick reports, optional client login, optional credit card payments, and much more. https://www.zoho.com/us/books/ <https://www.zoho.com/us/books/> .

I recall skimming a hiddentech discussion about the pros and cons of online bookkeeping software, and I don’t doubt that it lacks much compared to robust small-business software like QuickBooks. In my experience, bookkeeping—and certainly accounting—require professional help, regardless of the software. Dealing with taxes, tax law, S-corp vs C-corp vs LLC vs self-employed, cash vs accrual, efficient records and reporting—it can all drain precious time better used in our areas of expertise. I’ve been lucky to have the same bookkeeper since 2001, and I know she’s always turning away new business.

I would think there’s a lot of opportunity around here for bookkeepers to set-up efficient systems for businesses, with or without online software, and perhaps in partnership with CPA firms that ensure optimum tax and legal structure of the business.

Best Regards,

In the 80's I owned a profitable printing franchise called Copies Now. I currently operate Laporte Bookkeeping.
