[Hidden-tech] So much junk mail!

Linus Torvalds uses Gmail to coordinate the Linux kernel contributors,
in part because of its promise of accurate SPAM filtering.

A few days ago, he wrote on Google+ that the false positive rate for
Gmail's SPAM filtering had shot up to about 20%, making it almost
useless for him or anyone else needing to filter a lot of email.

You can read his full post (warning: salty language) at:

https://plus.google.com/+LinusTorvalds/posts/DiG9qANf5PA

I'm also more worried about false positives than the software missing
SPAM. I use MailWasher Pro (Windows only) to filter what gets past the
marginally useful SpamAssassin provided on my hosting server. MW Pro has
a very flexible rule mechanism in addition to Bayesian learning, but the
most important thing for me is a visual display that makes it easy to
spot misclassified messages. Trust but verify!
