I'm liking this solution too. It does not take care of automatically
updating the site to say that something is sold, but that can be done
manually and if two people email in quick succession about the same image
it's not a big deal to email the second to say "sorry, someone else already
purchased that drawing."

The whole packaging/mailing issue does prompt me to add a side note
encouraging her not to underprice her work. It takes time to deal with all
of the selling and shipping steps. If the goal is to make, say, $20 on a
drawing it would not be unreasonable to figure on selling it for $40 to
cover the time spent doing the administrative tasks as well as packaging and
shipping, not to mention the cost of packing materials. That $40 figure is
just off the top of my head but the basic idea is don't forget the overhead
time and costs.

Reading all the responses... seems to me that this is a case where trying to
do things electronically will end up being way more work! If she's selling
the original then she still has to package it and take to a post office.

How about a simple notice on her page that the originals are for sale and to
email her if interested? She generates an invoice (using PayPal or Square)
they pay with credit card etc and then  she ships?
