[Hidden-tech] Anyone have experience with crowdsource funding?

So i'm curious about this too.  My brother and I want to fund a much 
larger version of a business we are building.   What happens if the 
business doesn't produce?  Normally with a kickstart you promise your 
donors that you will deliver to them.   And how is the money taxed by 
the government or do you not have to claim it?    I'm curious how it all 
works too.
