[Hidden-tech] Need Help Moving From GoogleDocs Into Wordpress

My client wants an article moved from GoogleDocs into Worpress. Everything went fine until I had to move code samples. All but one displays fine when I use <pre></pre>. All except one rather long code sample. It worked for three-fourths of the code and then it corrupted and threw a bunch of span code into it. I have tried everything I can think of. The <code></code> tags do nothing. I even went into Text mode and hand-deleted all the span crap. As soon as I save the draft, it puts the span crap back in. I tried copying it into Word and then into Wordpress. I tried copying it into TextEdit and then into Wordpress. The same thing happened every time. I have run out of ideas. Help!
