Insisting on a number that you can call them back on works too. I've had them tell me that they could schedule a time to call me back, but they hang-up when I insist that I want to call them. If they give you a US number to call them back on, then that at least gives authorities a little something to start investigating with. Caller-id can be spoofed a lot more easily, but setting up an inbound number that can't be traced back to you is more challenging. I always enjoy when they tell me that they're calling from my IT support department. That's funny, I was quite sure that my IT support department was sitting in my chair with me. I've never had the patience to sit there and toy with them though. I think my time is a lot more valuable than theirs. I wish there was an automated system that I could forward their calls to that would toy with them for me and let me know the results. Kind of a tarpit for scam calls?
