[Hidden-tech] Advice on used Mac buying

Hi Annamarie,

Are those specs listed below what he's looking for or what he currently has? I'll guess those are desired specs.

I think Rob has a good point in that he might look into upgrading his old system. One hitch might be that some of the older processors can't run Mavericks or even Mountain Lion. But if the specs below are the desired specs, then he would be okay. I know that ACTV in Amherst uses iMacs for video editing, but I don't know what the specific configurations are.

With $700 I'd think he would be hard pressed to get something that would be a step up from his old system unless he really lucked out and hooked onto a video editor's old system who just upgraded. A 17" screen makes editing video more enjoyable, but of course, those are the most expensive systems. Either save up more money, or upgrade as Rob suggested.

A chat with an expert at Yes, or genius bar tech about specs and available systems makes sense. They can also tell him what it would take to upgrade his current MacBook Pro.

Best,
Kimo
