How can I stop/prevent spoofing of my account? You can't. The E-Mail protocol (RFC822) allows setting the message headers to anything. Modern spam filters check to be sure the From: (or Sender:) headers make sense given the Received: headers. What is happening is that the spoofers / spammers are sending E-Mail with a 'bogus' From: header (one that has your E-Mail) from a server 'designed' to send spam, typically a hapless hacked mess-windows machine that has been co-opted to be a spambot in a network of spambots. > I have already changed my password, made sure forwarding is turned off, and > made sure that it only connects on a secure browser address (htttps). > > Best, > Jonathon > > MIME-Version: 1.0 > > _______________________________________________ > Hidden-discuss mailing list - home page: http://www.hidden-tech.net > Hidden-discuss at lists.hidden-tech.net > > You are receiving this because you are on the Hidden-Tech Discussion list. > If you would like to change your list preferences, Go to the Members > page on the Hidden Tech Web site. > http://www.hidden-tech.net/members > > -- Robert Heller -- 978-544-6933 / heller at deepsoft.com Deepwoods Software -- http://www.deepsoft.com/ () ascii ribbon campaign -- against html e-mail /\ www.asciiribbon.org -- against proprietary attachments
