[Hidden-tech] How to move from Joomla to Wordpress

Hi Sven,

Rich makes some very good points in his reply, especially regarding your video content — the display of which would have to be remade in WP instead of migrated to the AllVideos extension for J! 3.x. In this case, maintaining the video location directory structure — as Rich mentioned — and just installing the new version of AllVideos and configuring the same directory structure in the plugin ought to connect everything.

Your site is running on a very old version of Joomla (1.5), which reached its end-of-life in April 2012. I hope you've applied the courtesy security patch to it which was released back in August.

The latest version of Joomla 3.x is a world apart from what you have known. Have you checked it out? If you're interested, I can give you temporary access to a Joomla 3.2 site demo admin area.

If you do convert to WP, I'd suggest the premium version of the FG Joomla to Wordpress plugin, which Mark suggested, for the additional and important features it offers.

Best,
Kimo Lee
