[Hidden-tech] MakerBot (or similar) 3D printing

I saw a couple of different 3D printers at the CeBIT technology fair in
Germany this month and they all worked using some sort of plastic infusion.
It was neat stuff, but for now the practical application is fairly limited
for the lower end ones. Within a few years though, all bets are off. One
interesting aside, Nokia had a poster in their pavilion with a link where
you could download the plans for a free Lumia 920 case, which you could
then "print" on a 3D printer. I thought that was a pretty neat marriage of
technology and promotion (although slightly ahead of it's time).
