I think it's important to distinguisg between VOIP, which uses the internet for phone calls, and a triple-play phone line from a Fiber or Cable provider. While it's still a digital signal, the latter actually goes out through separate phone switching equipment, or so I've been told by Charter Business in central Mass. -----Original Message----- From: hidden-discuss-bounces at lists.hidden-tech.net [mailto:hidden-discuss-bounces at lists.hidden-tech.net] On Behalf Of Bruce Hooke Sent: Tuesday, June 18, 2013 11:03 PM To: 'Robert Heller' Cc: 'Hidden-Tech Tech'; 'Tess Gadwa' Subject: Re: [Hidden-tech] faxes on Comcast phone lines ** Be sure to fill out the survey/skills inventory in the member's area. ** If you did, we all thank you. I am writing this from Rhode Island, where Verizon does offer FOIS, and that's what I use for my Internet connection, so my experience is with a VOIP. I am NOT on DSL. Yes, I am using an anolog modem card. The only kind of high speed Internet Verizon offers in Western Mass is DSL -- FIOS is only available in Eastern Mass (eg Boston suburbia). > the faxes using software on my computer (Windows Fax and Scan).
