Hi Jill, Adobe Audition is great, I have been using it for years since it was called Cool Edit (later acquired by Adobe and re-named). It's loaded with features and capabilities. Folks that are new to audio editing may find it a little overwhelming at first, but if you have experience with audio editing you may find easy to enough to learn. I use Audition primary to enhance or clean up audio in our video productions. Download a trial version and see how you like it.
