[Hidden-tech] a leadership development opportunity for non-profits

Dear Hidden-Techers,

Since there is plenty of injustice to go around, I am happy to share one little one that is being offered a correction by a consulting company in Boston that we have collaborated with quite a bit the last 10 years or so.

The injustice is that if you are in the upper echelons of corporate America, you have access to quite a bit of high quality "leadership development", training, etc. - some of which actually makes your work life better and your organization more effective. Boston's Power+Systems has developed one of the most respected of these programs called the "Organization Workshop" (I became an "OW Trainer" in 2006 and almost all of Piti Theatre's training offerings for adults grow out of my affinity for this work).

Meanwhile, if you are in the non-profit world, let alone the arts, most of these opportunities are too expensive and you are too busy anyway.

In October, Power+Systems is launching something called the "World Wide Week of Partnership" where their trainers are offering free workshops for local non-profits around the world. I was imagining a group of non-profits from the Pioneer Valley coming together to take the workshop (or one of their other offerings like "When Cultures Meet")as a group. It could be a great way of strengthening connections between and within organizations - this is definitely a "more people the better" situation.

As a relatedaside, the only other thing that I would recommend as enthusiastically re: leadership development is Vipassana meditation. The Shelburne Vipassana Center will be offering a "10 Day Course for Leaders and Executives" in November. See:
