The Springfield Data Center (SDC) will help ensure the Commonwealth's computer systems and digital assets continue to be properly secured and maintained, while providing greater operating efficiencies. SDC will serve as a backup to the Massachusetts Information Technology Center (MITC), the Commonwealth's primary data center in Chelsea, and is a key component of the Commonwealth's strategy to manage technology more efficiently and effectively by consolidating distributed data centers into two facilities. SDC will be a national model for green and environmentally friendly data centers. Services will be available to Commonwealth of Massachusetts' agencies, authorities, boards, commissions, departments, divisions, municipalities, and public sector educational institutions, as well as other states' government entities.
