[Hidden-tech] unresponsive script? Can that be ruining my email

The "unresponsive script" is most likely GMail itself trying to work.
GMail (and almost everything on the web these days) uses javascript and
cookies to function at all. It is most likely being blocked by Ghostery or
something else similar you have installed. Things which block scripts and
cookies willy-nilly are very likely to cause more problems than they solve.

When GMail first loads, there is usually a chance to switch to the "Basic
HTML View" - which, while less featureful, is also less likely to be
interfered with by the anti-whatever countermeasures you have installed.

If you're having ongoing problems, I'd suggest updating your web browser
and uninstalling *all* similar software that claims to block viruses, ads
and malware. Then find *one* in each category which actually does what you
want without breaking things and reinstall only that.

FWIW, Chrome + Adblock works well and does not cause problems with GMail.
