[Hidden-tech] Taking advertising on a blog

Hi Susanna,

I blog for my full time job. So there is certainly money to be made in it (although, as my bank account can confirm, not THAT much money).

Success at advertising is half based on having lots of traffic and half based on having the sorts of ads that your blog visitors will click on. Not having a sense of your readership, I'm not sure where you are on the latter. But from what I can see, it doesn't seem to me like your blog has enough visitors to make ads worth while. Instead of working with Google adsense or some firm like that, my suggestion would be to find one company or one product that fits your subject matter and that you really believe in and work out an advertising/sponsorship deal directly with them.

Good luck. Feel free to write back with any questions,

   Wil

Does taking advertising compromise the value of the blog? Is there any real money to be made out of this or is he selling his soul to the devil for pennies? If he decides to accept the offer, what should he watch out for?
