I've spoken with Sue Hugus at the South Amherst library about the system
change. She acknowledged that Evergreen currently has it's problems - noting
that they can no longer quickly look up patrons by name - but said that the
fact that it's open source means that they can hire their own programmers
and move it ahead rapidly to address issues and to customize it to fit their
own needs. With the previous system, feature and change requests took many
months or years if they were responded to at all.
