Thank you all for your suggestions and comments. I agree that my desire to fix (reuse, reduce, recycle) is costing me time and money and I should simply go a buy a new one. So I guess that could play into it. You could try a different toner cartridge if you have one. The red light is pretty generic warning that I remember.
