[Hidden-tech] what uses electricity when it is plugged in?

Simple:

1. Go buy a "Kill-a-Watt" meter. They are cheap, and will save you $$

2. Plug in any device (only one at a time) that you think might use standby
power into the meter. Leave the device OFF.

3. Let the meter & device run for an hour or two.

4. If the Kill-a-Watt records power being used, then

5. Plug that device into a power bar that you manually shut OFF when the
device is not required.

6. Don't do this to any device that looses it's settings if the power is
OFF.

Examples:

My computer & printer are plugged into a power bar.

My TV, VCR, and DVD player are plugged into another power bar.

Could someone please recap this discussion. What
should we all have on strips that we shut off
when not in use, and what should we leave plugged
in?
Thanks.
