Some nitpicks:

There are different 'grades' of UPSes.  Some have a higher level of
isolation between the mains and their output (more isolation means even
greater protection from power line problems).  Some generate pure sine
waves others don't (some equipment requires pure sine waves, other
equipment does not care).

"Power Saving" UPSes work by running your equipment off their batteries
for a few minutes every so often, using the stored power in the
batteries. This probably saves *some* power, but on some level it is
Peter robbing Paul, since the UPS needs to draw extra power to charge
the battery.
