[Hidden-tech] Alternative to Quickbooks

I agree, and I also have 15 years of accounting experience. Quickbooks has 80% of the small businesses accounting software for a reason. The difficulty that I find many people have with it is trying to set it up yourself and not having an accounting background or a strong understanding of accounting. If it is not set up correctly it can be a nightmare. I have set up Quickbooks for several clients and most of them do all of the transactions themselves - some busier clients have me do some of the work for them.

Quickbooks is a very powerful program if used correctly. It can open your eyes to where your revenue is coming from and where your money is being spent.

I have also seen many cases where people try to avoid Quickbooks and spend a lot of time and money using other solutions that don't offer them the accuracy or reporting that they need.

I have had many business associates, not accountants, who have used the program and rave about it. I have used enterprise software such as Computer Associates, Oracle, SAP, Peachtree, Great Plains, etc., and would much rather work with Quickbooks. It is simple, intuitive and powerful enough to run the books for a small or medium sized enterprise with ease. Just my opinion. If you love Excel, great, everything in QB can be downloaded to Excel for more specialized analysis. I don't know what the issues are that Amazon had, but I think QB is certainly worth a look.

I was all set to buy it until I read the reviews on Amazon, and the references to poking one's own eyes out with a fork made me think twice. Just want to explore my options before I make a commitment. Thanks a bunch!
