[Hidden-tech] Need an Unrestrictive Domain Name Registrar + Thanksfor Great WordPress Hosting replies

We have several hundred domains registered through directNIC. The only thing I don’t like about them is that they “moved” from New Orleans to Grand Cayman a couple years ago, and I don’t like corporate tax avoidance. Other than that, zero complaints. We have encountered many registrars when processing incoming transfers, and some are absolute nightmares. The absolute worst have to include Melbourne IT (Australia) and Active 24 (aka Mamut Software, in Norway). Mamut refused to transfer a domain to us that was registered to a deceased individual in Wisconsin, even though his widow (who was interested in selling us the domain) completed all of their required paperwork. We attempted to facilitate the transfer for two months, from February through April 2011. We even had one of our associates stop into their office in London, but they refused to even consider the transfer of the domain unless we agreed to pay them to host the domain with their company for a year. That was something that we refused to do, and a nice old lady in Wisconsin did not have the opportunity to supplement her social security income with the proceeds from the sale of the domain that she rightfully owns.

I'm trying to find a Domain Name registrar - one that doesn't have Terms of Service that sound like a prison. I just paid for namecheap.com but their Terms only came up afterward (still have time to say no) which seem overly restrictive

I've heard about Dynadot, Dotster, Enom and Tiger Technologies...but wonder if they're good - anyone have advice on one?
