Have a questions about image rights: We made some Steve Jobs memorial posters to hang up in our retail locations following his death. They have proved to be very popular, with many customers coming in and asking if they could buy one from us. We have no interest in profiting off of them (obviously), so we gave away the ones we had printed. I thought a nice alternative would be to post the full res poster online for people to download and get printed themselves (we'd post Paradise Copies' contact info along with it). The problem is, the image is from his Time Magazine cover, which we lightly Photoshopped and overlaid with new text. We obviously don't have the rights to the image, so would it be acceptable to post it as a download? I suspect this is a case where it's not technically allowed but we probably wouldn't get in trouble for it, which means it's up to us what side of the fence we want to fall on. But I thought some of the people on this list would be able to offer some helpful perspectives.
