[Hidden-tech] Verizon vs ATT smart phone coverage in the Valley

Hi Lynn-

As someone who carried both a (company) Verizon smartphone and a (personal) AT&T smartphone I can comfortably say "it all depends on where you will need to use it most."

Both companies will annoy you at times with the way they choose to do business. Both have dead zones all over the valley.

One thing I do prefer about Verizon over AT&T is the way the phones are allowed access to the network - Verizon can block a lost/stolen iPhone from their network via the hardward ID, AT&T uses the SIM card to block access. Putting a new SIM card in a phone is trivially simple, and will defeat the network blocking available - at least 6 months ago - that AT&T has available.

It is really likely to come down to coverage where you need the phone most, or most often. Both networks have improved since my first smartphones on each network and will likely continue to improve. When you're in the places you will most want to be connected, check with those around you to see how the coverage is on those networks and choose accordingly.

Just curious what Hidden Techies use for their smart phone - Verizon or
ATT? Which has better service in the Valley? I'm getting an iPhone...

Lynn
