[Hidden-tech] Event: Tomorrow 11/10 Design Venturers Meet and Greet

Hi Everyone,
Design Venturers Western Mass will be having our first event tomorrow
night, November 10th from 5 - 7pm at the Apollo Grille at Eastworks in
Easthampton, in the bar area. Park in the large parking lot. Go to the
entrance that has the movie marquee over it. Walk straight back. the
Apollo is a few paces ahead. Bring your business cards, your
enthusiasm, and your cool new design ideas. Bring a friend. You can

We will probably make this a regularly scheduled event, though this
meetup is brand new, so we may rethink the time/date before we lock it
in to a regular schedule.


Also, Just an opening note on things to come. Cindy Kunz and I started
this meetup with the idea that exciting new opportunities for the arts
in Western Mass could be created in a collaborative atmosphere, with
people in the design arts working together in support of each other.
Some possibilities are:
• Identifying temporary and permanent spaces where art and design
could be displayed, perhaps in partnership with local architects, and
local realtors, and others (The Floating Museum).
• Guest lecturers, talks and presentations on anything from color
theory, and color forecasting, to the use of negative space in design,
typography, and font design, photoshop workshops, spatial design
concepts, architectural use of color, portfolio preparation, or
anything else folks would like to see presented about. Your thoughts
and ideas are welcome. If anyone would like to present on something,
or have good ideas for possible presentations, please feel free to
contact Cindy or I.
• Focus groups on topics of common interest; photography and
photoshop, graphic design, interior design, CAD.etc (What is neat
about Design Venturers WM is that people from differing fields can
feel welcome to drop in and gather and seed fresh ideas across
disciplines).
• Another possibility is to work together to search out and/or develop
possible funding sources for collaborative art projects in Western
Mass.
• Building arts liasons with larger arts cities like New York, Boston,
and possibly others.
Please bear with us as we flesh out the meetup site, in the midst of
our other commitments ;)
In short, there is a lot we can accomplish when we are working for and
with each other to make cool stuff happen. Looking forward to seeing
