What Frank said -- Avast really is good.  For me so far, it's annual
re-registration has been painless.  BTW, I find it helpful to run three
other freeware routines after running Avast -- Spybot, Malwarebytes, and
CCleaner (OK, maybe not so much CCleaner, as, absent expert advice [not
mine], it can toss the good with the unwanted from your registry).

They used to just let you have it, now they need you to re-register
annually.  If that is too much of a bother, there are other viable
alternatives (Microsoft Security Essentials, Panda Cloud Anti-virus to name
a couple).  I still like Avast as free option (it's one of the best), but
they do have that registration.

The free version makes you register on install and then once a year after
that.   If the automatic registration is not working you can register online
here:http://www.avast.com/registration-free-antivirus.php and you will
receive an email with a code.

Hi mavens...

I know several of you use Avast free version and I've been using it without
problems for quite a while. 

Now they are saying I need to register or upgrade to paid. When I try to
register and fill out the form, the form rejects being submitted. 

Anyone else find this? Workaround? Alternatives?
