[Hidden-tech] Recommendations for 1.5 or 2 TB External Hard Drives for OSX

My recommendation is to buy more than one and keep redundant backups.
You don't really know when a drive is going to go bad, most of them
last for quite a while but none of them last forever. I have 3
external drives sitting side by side on my desk.
I bought a Seagate 1.5 TB about 4 months ago and it's just sitting
there doing its thing. Probably too soon to tell but Seagate seems to
have a good reputation. I use it for manual backups so I can store and
search by client. I bought it to replace one that failed after more
than 4 years. (Actually the drive was ok and I got all the data off
it, but the box it was in developed some kind of a flaw.)
I have a 1 TB Western Digital that I use for Time Machine. I've been
using it for almost 2 years with no problem. I've seen the exact same
drive in various other places, including my favorite print shop and no
one I know has had any problems with it.
I also bought a 1 TB Iomega from the Apple Store (on line) that
arrived with a faulty power cord. I complained to Apple and Iomega
made good on it and it's been fine for over 2 years. I bought it
because I know two other people with the same drive who had been using
them for a while.
These are all USB plug and play external drives. They all cost less
than $100 (each) so watch for the sales.
