[Hidden-tech] Free anti-virus for PC?

I would recommend avast. I run it on a lot of old PCs without much trouble.
Any antivirus will slow down the old PC a little bit, but it
is necessary for the protection.
My preference for avast over avira mostly boils down to the way in which
avira handles their free customers. They run their free software on a method
of what I would call "Annoy-ware" every night when the software updates the
definitions it also launches a website suggesting you could get slightly
faster downloads, etc if you got the paid version.

Avast offers you the paid version on activation, within the software. But so
far is not pushy or in your face about it. Their free software is just
that...free.

Thanks,
Kiernan Gulick-Sherrill
