A friend of mine is the country's go-to person on the subject of governance
of charter public schools. She has created a company, The High Bar (
https://www.reachthehighbar.com), to demonstrate how technology can improve
charter governance (and by extension school/student performance) by
providing web-based tools and training to the governing boards of charters
across the US.

The company - virtual but "headquartered" in metrowest Boston - has launched
a search for a Director of Operations and Technology

The Opportunity:

The High Bar, an emerging technology company, with a focus of dramatically
strengthening charter public
school governance across the country, is seeking an entrepreneurial
individual to serve as its Director of
Operations & Technology. We are in search of an enthusiastic and
hard-working collaborator to plan,
organize, and support the technology and operations needed to make the
organization run smoothly, and
scale rapidly while maintaining outstanding quality. This position
represents a tremendous opportunity to
help build a dynamic social enterprise driven to deliver results towards a
double bottom-line.

Specifically, day-to–day activities will include:

• Developing systems to support the rapid scaling of the organization.
Evaluate, recommend, test and
monitor the use of a variety of APIs to power both internal operations and
customer-facing processes
(such as Zen Desk, PayPal, SalesForce.com, marketing website, e-learning
platforms, etc.).
• Determine optimal technology for e-commerce including trial periods and
upgrades; implement and
maintain e-commerce systems.
• Conduct company-wide analytics, gather data from systems to inform
organization-wide decisionmaking,
create metrics and evaluate effectiveness of systems and results.
• Manage client invoicing, payments, license & service agreements, renewals,
etc.
• Prepare and complete action plans; implement production, productivity,
quality, and customer-service
standards; resolve problems; identify trends; determine system improvements;
implement change.
• Assist CEO and collaborate with Director of Engineering to monitor and
manage 2-week iteration
planning and agile development process.
• Collaborate with the Director of Sales and Marketing to ensure web-based
marketing, SEO, and other
technical components of the sales and marketing efforts work effectively and
efficiently.
• Develop a keen understanding of The High Bar’s core products and
participate in helping shape the
strategic direction of the organization as it moves into a rapid growth
period.

Qualities/Qualifications:

Ideal candidate will demonstrate the following qualities:

are still undefined;
• Relentlessness & Composure - Drive to do whatever it takes, regardless of

responsibilities and to achieve results. Ability to remain calm even when
faced with the
relentlessness of the work and with unexpected challenges.
The ideal candidate will also possess the following qualifications:
• At least 5 years of work experience in leadership of technology and/or
operations preferably in
entrepreneurial, start-up and/or high growth organization
• Highly motivated, ability to work independently and with little
supervision, capable of working in a virtual
office environment
• Action-oriented, pragmatic, detail-oriented, focused on results, and
analytical with strong project
management skills
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited, four-year university, MBA or other
advanced degree preferred
• 5+ years concrete technology experience with saas/web service development,
experienced bringing new
products to market
• Experience with technology and systems for e-commerce, SalesForce.com; Zen
Desk and/or related
systems
