Dan-

As I've mentioned on previous iterations of this thread, your experience
with GAW will be directly tied to your location.

In a prior position I used them in two remote locations, neither of which
had other high-speed options. One site was almost trouble free - the
biggest trouble we had at that site was a self-inflicted layer 1 issue my
predecessor had left me trying to save money on the initial self-install.
The other location - due to it's physical location relative to the GAW
towers- was always hit or miss at best. The folks at GAW (and it's
predecessor in that location - SNE-WISP) were always diligent in trying to
improve the coverage, but the local topology worked against them.

They did take a couple lightning strikes during the summer and that lead to
a multi-day outage at both sites - each was single sourced due to location.
Either they didn't realize the severity of the issue right away or they soft
pedaled the initial estimates. I was a bit annoyed - I would always prefer
to hear the spread of possible resolution times rather than your best (or
most hopeful) estimate. I'd have made effective sneakernet plans earlier if
I had known the eventual extent of the downtime, along with determining a
workable schedule to activate the sneakernet to make the workflows a bit
less disrupted... In their defense, they could have just been sure and
wrong at the same time. It happens to all of us once in a while.

That said, they were responsive and helpful - even in helping us resolve the
self-inflicted wounds.
