hi stefan,
i visited kenya and went on a day long photo safari. We stayed at the hilton
in nairobi and booked a trip to lake nukuru thru the hilton for about $200.
example trip:

 *
* i had a dreadful camera but the folks in my group shared their amazing
photos with me so i ended up with great shots of the same fuzzy shots i was
getting with my tiny fuji.

lake nukuru is famous for the thousands of flamingos, black rhinos,
elephant, giraffe and big cats (shy in the day). it was a profound
experience and really easy to arrange from the hotel. I would do it again in
an instant, and spend more time in the bush with a huge camera, tripod,
zoom, the works. the lodges are also quite nice, the company is interesting
and the food was good.
good luck choosing a great place to safari!
