[Hidden-tech] Twitter auto note when someone starts following you

I have never figured out anything to say in an auto DM that would be
more useful than offensive/self-promotional, so I don't use them. And
in the 2-1/2 years I've been on Twitter, I've received maybe two auto
DMs out of hundreds received that I thought were worth reading.

What I do instead, though inconsistently, is go to their page and
find something to retweet. I wish I could find the time to keep up
with the flood, but with nearly 4000 followers, I don't see that as
likely. I have to say it's arbitrary whether I check out a new
follower. But I do visit pages of people who retweet me or engage me
in conversation.

I do very much appreciate *personal* DMs from new folowees, which are
very rare.
