Hi Arlen, First, congratulations on the success of REMEDIA! My copy of TurboTax 2010 Business (-not- "Home and Business") handles LLCs and Partnerships (both form 1065), and offfers to e-file at both the Federal and State level. I'm not sure whether it handles your specific situation since it's different than mine. Probably worth reading the docs or calling to confirm before buying. TurboTax Business lists @ $130, available for $75-105 online; MA is another $50 download. To do so we would either need to purchase "approved" software which begins around $1500 best we can tell, or we can hire an accountant to do our returns and transmit them. We currently do our own taxes since the record keeping is what is difficult and the putting together of the form is pretty easy with existing software. The question we have is, does anyone know an accountant who, for a modest fee would agree to just transmit our form(s) to the DOR? By the way, the threshold for the requirement for this is a whopping $50,000 in profit or in loss. We are significantly bigger than that, but it seems like quite a burden on many small companies. The fine is apparently about $200 for paper filing, but that is a lot less than the software or an accountant. The fine might be a great business decision, but it certainly ain't small business friendly.
