Well if you can't get Verizon's DSL, your only other option is satellite
Internet (Wildblue or HughesNet, with Wildblue being the better deal). 
Note: satellite is no great win either: bad weather can take it out, it
can be blocked by unfortunately located trees or hills.  And of course
there is the FAP to sneak up on you and give you a bad Internet day. 
And the latency precludes things like video conferencing or VPN.

Oh, as you have discovered: Wireless Broadband is the oxymoron of the
21st century.
