Hi Sarah,

There are lots of other things that can be done to optimize Wordpress for
speed. We have many Wordpress sites on shared environments with GoDaddy that
are extremely responsive. A step up is expensive-high-performance hosting
isn’t cheap.

I don’t want get into one of the “battle of the hosts” discussions. It’s
just we’ve learned a lot over the years about optimizing WP and without a
look don’t know if there is some opportunity or not-usually there is quite a
bit.

If you can send a URL we’ll take a look and get back to you.

Sarah,

It sounds like you've tried everything you can do to around the margins to
speed your site and that you are dealing with a hosting issue. It might be
that you are sharing a server with another site hogging up the bandwidth.
Perhaps ask GoDaddy to switch you to another server?

For what it is worth, I've had bad experience using GoDaddy as a hosting
service myself. HostGator has worked well for me. Other hosts to consider:

Hi Hidden-Techies

I have created a Wordpress site (currently being hosted by GoDaddy) that is
painfully slow and I am seeking any recommendations on how to rectify this.
I have tried various caching solutions but the improvement was marginal at
best. I have also stripped away any superfluous plug-ins and optimized all
graphics but the site is still crawling along.

Would upgrading my service with GoDaddy or switching to another hosting
company rectify this? (I am currently using GoDaddy's Shared Economy
Hosting on a Linux server.) I have heard that GoDaddy is not the best
hosting company for Wordpress sites anyhow and, in fact, I have already
experienced some pitfalls as a result of hosting with them that I have not
experienced elsewhere. Anyone have an experience/advice on the best service
to use?

Any other advice regarding Wordpress/speed? I have only recently begun
producing Wordpress sites (though I have produced HTML/Flash sites for
years) and this is certainly the most elaborate Wordpress site I have
designed thus far.

I would greatly appreciate any recommendations.

Thank you.

All the best

Sarah
