[Hidden-tech] writing rates

It is better still to pay for each piece. Blog posts between 150 and 450 words for a set amount. If you are worried about per word payment making someone verbose and hourly rates as making them work slowly, then payment by the piece is the best. Whether a seasoned professional can rip it off in 20 minutes or 2 hours, the net result is the piece. Paying for a finished product (with the understanding that one round of editing is included) lets everyone focus on what is important.
Of course, I have seen rates from $15 to $1,000 per blog post. The high end of course is for a leading expert in the field and $15 is more the norm.

I agree with Susanna. It takes more work and talent
to write concise copy than long copy! Paying by the hour may be a better
way to approach it. The Writer's Market has examples of low, average
and high hourly rates for business writing.

** Be sure to fill out the survey/skills inventory
in the member's area.
** If you did, we all thank
you.

Ill be eager to hear
other opinions, but to me paying by the word is counterproductive. The best
online writing is tight and concise. The better you are, the less you make.
Not sure why youd do this.

Hello all!
One of my potential clients wants to pay for online content
by the word. What's the going rate these days?
Thanks for any information you can
share!
Yours,
Holly
