[Hidden-tech] Looking for Sugar expertise

I want to second Paul’s opinion of Sugar. My feeling is that anything is
possible in Sugar if you are a PHP programmer and want to extend the basic
module. But simple reports, on-screen display, and updating data seemed
either out of reach in the interface or simply not possible. Perhaps my
opinion was clouded when the Sugar help people told me to put in people as
Leads because they could easily be converted to Contacts and, 2000 records
later, they acknowledged that this needed to be done one record at a time.
Again, with PHP/MySQL programming, I am sure I could have done it, but I
don’t have that degree of skill with PHP/MySQL and it soured me on Sugar.

Perhaps I am too used to feature rich desktop solutions, but I find that
many on-line apps have fewer usability features and require customization
that may be invalidated or need to be revisited when a new version is
released.

Maybe it's just me, but we tried for almost a year to use SugarCRM and make
it work for our business. Â We've since switched to Batchbook and been
extremely happy. Â Obviously it can't be completely customized, but it has a
ton of integration and can be customized for a lot of things. Â Sugar was
always just very clunky on the things that mattered most, like working on
clients/customers. Â Just my 2 cents, I say look for other solutions before
wasting time trying to make Sugar fit your needs because in the long run the
system itself is flat. Â Â

Do any of you know a local Sugar expert consultant that can give us advise
on design of a non-standard (advanced) Sugar solution, Sugar configuration,
data import, set-up and use of reporting tool, email campaigns, etc?

Rather than a consultant, would you advise to use a value-added hosting
service such as Bluehost that can both host, apply upgrades, etc and do
custom support?
