Hello Hidden-Tech-ers! I've been a lurker for quite a while, now posting my first question to the group. My company employs many sales reps who all work remotely. They each have a Windows laptop, and currently upload their sales paperwork to an FTP server using an FTP client like FileZilla. This works fine EXCEPT that there is no control over the file naming; the reps name their paperwork files with all sorts of arbitrary naming schemes, meaning wasted time on the receiving end as we must open each document to see what it contains. We would like to impose some sort of automatic naming of these files, and take it out of the hands of the reps. Typically, the files would be named with some basic information like the name of the client, a timestamp, etc. I can imagine a couple ways of resolving this: 1) Throw together a little homegrown utility that serves as a front end (or substitute) for the existing FTP client. This utility would require them to enter basic info about the files before uploading, and the files would be automatically renamed based on that info. 2) Create a web-based interface for the FTP server, which would serve the same purpose as #1. I've done some searching, but have yet to find an existing (Windows) FTP utility that includes such features... can someone prove me wrong? Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.
