There is an alert in the current issue of the magazine MaryJane's Farm to a new trend of "localwashing": * Corporate giants encouraging consumers to buy local - at their nearest chain stores and malls * Using farmers in commercials to position products as locally grown that aren't * Removing corporate names from storefronts (Starbucks is reportedly beginning to do this) * Co-opting the slogans, like Barnes & Noble launching a new site with the banner "All bookselling is local" Yikes.
