Don't do it. You do want to take your macbook pro and get insurance or just realize that you'll probably be fine if you take care of your equipment right, which you will realize once you are there and then be annoyed that you didn't just bring your computer. While I was in Haiti a number of people (4+) had the small inexpensive notebooks and they all complained. Some issues were screen size, speed, & strength of connection. I did not hear anyone say that they were happy with it. I ended up letting people use my macbook because they were so frustrated.
