Here is a potential answer to what might have happened.

Lightning has several forms. One is taking a lightning hit by induction.
This is not at all like a direct hit. Lightning passes by and induces a
goodly voltage into a power line, wire, or antenna. It will destroy
sensitive electronics. I lost a FAX machine, several modems, and a phone
once to this.

Now, if you have a damaged router or WiFi board, no amount of software
repairs or changes will fix it. For a system like yours, I would have a
couple of known good WiFi cards, wrapped in aluminum foil, in ESD bags,
placed in a drawer. Get one of these and swap out until the system works.

Remember the old repair rule: Make one change at a time, then test. Then
should be able to find the problem.

PS At some point you might consider WiMAX. It is an up & coming system. You
might also look into WiFi 802.11a. It is on a different frequency (less
interference) and allows up to 4 watts + antenna gain. Don't let the 11 mB
be a problem, your T-1 ain't that fast.

** Be sure to fill out the survey/skills inventory in the member's area.
** If you did, we all thank you.

Hi everyone,
In Levrett, there are a series of homes that share the internet by
having a single T1 line that comes in to one of the homes and a wireless
transmitter shares the internet with the rest of the neighborhood. On
one of these houses, the wireless receiver doesn't appear to be picking
up on a signal anymore since the last big storm.

I'm looking for someone who has experience in this type of setup and
can provide some troubleshooting/repair. If you have experience please
respond to me and Kathleen (CC'ed above). This isn't a normal wireless
setup, so if you only have experience with home based routers, this
isn't for you.

Thank you
David
