Only *some* of *Southern* Leverett (and Shutsbury) have DSL. There are
two requirements: you need to be on an exchange out of Fearing St in
Amherst. The people on the Montague exhchange (eg 413-367-xxxx) can't get
DSL (all along North Leverett road and up the hills to the north). Oh,
the other requirement: pretty much *less* than 2 (wire/road) miles from
the DSLAMs (yes, the DSL spec. says 18,000 feet, but much of the copper
in Leverett and Shutsbury is in pretty bad shape and not up to spec.).
There are people who are served out of Fearing St exchanges and in fact
out of the DSLAMs, but because of wire length and (poor) line quality
cannot get DSL. Only about 1/2 of Leverett and Shutsbury can get DSL.

If they are in the northern part of Leverett or more than 2 miles from
the DSLAM is it not possible for them to get dedicated DSL lines.
Dispite Verizon's PR, Leverett and Shutsbury are very much
'underserved'.
