[Hidden-tech] Twitter app recommendation

Dear HT,

Mea Culpa, I find twitter to be annoying and distracting more than 
helpful SO FAR.  Is there twitterati anonymous?

That said, a trusted social networking maven recommended HootSuite as an 
integrater for posting to multiple social networks at once.

What is the wisdom on this kind of app?

Any better mouse traps out there?
