Screen shots are, by definiation, at whatever your sceen resolution is,
typically 72 or 100 dpi. But see below.

Are these screen shots GUI windows (eg things like dialog boxes, etc,)?
If so, there is no way you are going to get better than 72 or 100 DPI,
really, unless you 'shrink' the published (printed) size to be less
that the physical screen size. That is, if the dialog box measures 12"
across on a 72 dpi screen and it is printed 2.88" wide in your
document, it will be 300 dpi. Note: merely streching the dialog boxes
won't buy you much. To be really effective, you would need to do
things like program things to use really large fonts and large, high
resolution icons, etc. so that the 'natural' size of the screen in
question is suitably large. Generally, program GUI windows (including
webpages) are optimized for a 72 or 100 dpi screen, so screen shot
images will also be 72 or 100 dpi. No good way around this -- you
cannot create information where there is none to begin with. (Yes, you
can have fun with dithering, etc, in photoshop, but that can end up
being hokey.)
