Hi Fred, I tried several different devices that connected to my telephones and none were satisfactory because my voice would be loud and the other person¹s voice would be soft which made listening to the recordings very difficult. A solution that works great for me is to use Skype to make the calls <http://www.skype.com/>. Skype software is free and calling from one computer to another is also free (if your interviewees will install and use Skype, too). If they won¹t, you would use Skype to call them on their an actual phone numbers. For this, you would need to buy the ³Skype Out² service which costs just a few dollars per month. In order to make the recordings through Skype, you would need to purchase an add-on software program called ³Call Recorder² <http://www.ecamm.com/mac/callrecorder/>. Once installed, there is a simple red ³record² button on screen whenever you launch Skype. Very easy to use. The recording quality will be quite good, with balanced sound volume between you and your interviewee. Also, even though your Mac has built-in speakers and a microphone, you will get better results if you have a good headset. You can get a decent USB headset at Staples for $20 - $50. Hope this helps.
