[Hidden-tech] Open source payroll software alternative to Quickbooks or ADP/Paychex

We have used sql-ledger for the past several years with pretty good results. 
It is a full-blown double-entry system accounting system that is also 
supported commercially if you have special needs.

sql-ledger runs on the LAMP stack (actually postgresql is preferred to mysql) 
so it just takes a browser window to access the application. And it can be run 
internally or even over the internet if one so desires.
